Stop landgrabbing - support small farmer's resistance!
Mali is specifically affected by landgrabbing, that is by the sellout of fertile farmland and grazing land to globally operating banks, investment fonds and trusts. Starting in spring 2012 Afrique-Europe-Interact will actively participate in the world-wide resistance against landgrabbing – with actions in Africa as well as in Europe. The starting point will be a delegation's journey in the beginning of march, with about 30 african and european activists from Afrique-Europe-Interact visiting for a week rural communities in Mali, in order to check out the possibilities of common, transnationally-based activities against landgrabbing. This get-together will cost quite a lot of money (like the Bamako-Dakar-Karawane) – especially since the activists from Mali have no financial resources of their own. Therefore tax-deductible donations are always very welcome. More information about the circular trip will follow soon.
If you want to know more about landgrabbing, you can find this on this website with the keywords Landgrabbing, Landraub and L'accaperement des terres – here we point especially to the substantial study of the Oakland-Institute on landgrabbing, which is available in english and french.
